Entropomemetics

Entropomemetics (or Entropic memes) are Entropic effects, sometimes part of Objects, that affect people's minds. Their discovery in ::0929 led to the creation of the Charter for the Classification of Entropic Cognitohazards, and helped generalise the existing classification system for their identification.

Entropomemetics are all around us in everyday life, from the images we share with friends to the media we consume. The difficulty of identifying and categorising this type of Entropic phenomenon is actually in their relative innocuousness; some can even make people believe they're normal, even when their true nature is far more bizarre.

It's thought that Entropomemetics and related phenomena manifest due to influence from the collective consciousness, sometimes referred to as the Entropic conscious. Thoughts and feelings we have are conveyed as waves within the Entropic, which then interact with one another in interesting ways. They then trigger crystal formation within its plasma, which are continuously changed and refined by the shared values of people.

Awakened individuals are far less susceptible to Entropomemetics, as their minds are 'external' to the Entropic - in fact, there are very few documented that do affect them. A lot of Exotic Sciences field research teams will have one or more as 'controls' to observe and distinguish influence, and as a way to recover personnel if the effect disables them.

Cognitovirons

Cognitovirons are a unique class of Entropomemetic that are able to be 'transmitted' from one person to another, in a similar way to how a disease might spread. People 'infected' by a Cognitoviron think about it often, and may talk about it with others or create media related to it to help it spread.

Unlike diseases, however, Cognitovirons are largely harmless. A notable Cognitoviron identified by SESD was the music album "Spaces in Spaces", created by Ubek'ka Koka in :01665. 'Earworms', music that gets inexplicably 'stuck' in people's heads, are common in Cognitoviron classification.
