Anomalous Object F90

Anomalous Object F90 is a non-autonomous Entropic Object. It was discovered in ::01531.

A report was made by a citizen that their "[bar of] soap was getting bigger", despite constant use. Thanks in part to the New Normal doctrine established in ::01312, the report was taken seriously, though noted as a potential false flag.

A small recovery team was dispatched to the citizen's domicile, where they found them holding the item, at the time 2.8kg in mass. They would accept the item into their care, and delivered it to the Enjil Red Quadrant Exotic Sciences research complex the following day.

Anomaly Description

AO-F90 is a 560kg bar of "Unissentials" floral-scented tallow soap. Its primary effect is activated whenever it is introduced to lipids.

When activated, AO-F90 subsumes any lipids on its surface into itself with remarkable efficiency. Body oils, rendered animal fat, vegetable oils, and extract oils are all absorbed into its surface at a rate of 32g/min, then distributed throughout its form.

When cut, AO-F90 will gradually redistribute its mass so that it maintains its topology. Divided pieces of AO-F90 larger than 5% of its total mass (archetype F90a) share their parent's anomalous properties and will reshape themselves accordingly. Reintroduction to AO-F90 results in their subsumation.

Divided pieces of AO-F90 less than 5% of its total mass (archetype F90b) are inert, and subsequent liquefaction and any level of concentration in greywater does not result in manifestation of F90a. This is the only known way to reduce the mass of the item.

Containment

Under no circumstances should lipids or lipid solutions be introduced to AO-F90 or F90a instances without prior authorisation from the Materials Management Council. Under no circumstances should instances of F90a be distributed for the purpose of cleaning.

F90b instances are to be distributed throughout Exotic Sciences Division premises. They are to be stamped with the appropriate identification prior to distribution.

Additional Information

::01532 Addendum F90+0

For the council's consideration: pieces of AO-F90 have proven to be inert as long as they're no larger than 5% of its total mass. I know it sounds a bit off-the-wall, but what if we could use it to replace some of the ESD's cleaning stock?

We use a massive amount of soap in the course of our duties - something like several tons just in a year. If we could use F90 as a supplement or even a replacement, I think it'd go a long way towards easing up logistical stress.

We're already pretty stretched as is with relief on Virityl. I think we could do a world of good if we managed to distribute this. Thoughts?

Addendum F90+0a

Council agrees: use of AO-F90 as a supplement to the existing soap market could be beneficial.

Council posits: its use, however, has not been extensively tested. Its interactions with the environment are poorly understood.

Council actions: we will be authorising a two (2) year testing scheme prior to any distribution, and have notified the Anomalous Applications Initiative of our intentions.

Please have proposals ready by the end of the next division. The council will reconvene then to determine next steps.
