AO-02F is a semi-autonomous Entropic Object and Old-Magick Artefact. It was discovered in ::01190.
AO-02F came into the possession of SESD as a donation. A Vellandoran researcher by the name of Ar'woi'el offered the item to the division, claiming it had long been a family heirloom and that they had joined SESD just to study it. Once its effects were demonstrated, they were assigned as a project lead for further examination.
Anomaly Description
AO-02F is a small-scale carpenters' workshop with dimensions 0.8m x 0.2m x 0.5m, made of towerwood endemic to the fungal forests of Enjil. It bears minor age-related wear, with two scorch marks from its time in SESD care (see Additional Measures), and is estimated to be at least 3,000 years old, predating the Supreme Vellandor Empire by several centuries.
AO-02F's effect is activated ten seconds after a wood-like material, in the form of blocks, strips, or dowels, is deposited in its centre. The effect does not activate if more than 0.8kg of material is provided, or if the total volume exceeds 30 cm3.
Upon activation, AO-02F will work the material into 1:12-scale traditional Vellandoran furniture over the course of 10 to 20 hours, depending on the mass of the input material and complexity of the output item(s).
AO-02F exerts a limited entropokinetic effect on input items and tools within its volume, and is able to 'learn' how to use new tools if they are introduced. It has shown the ability to cut, join, round and bevel, bend, drill, plane, and varnish pieces.
Engraved into AO-02F's base is a depiction of Vant'vell, the Old Vellandor spirit of life, alongside multiple verses in archaic Avella. Exactly what they say is currently unknown, but leading theories suggest that they are a prayer to, or "binding contract" with, the spirit.
Containment
AO-02F is contained within a standard light containment cell in the SESD Secure Sample Repository on Enjil. Clearance is required from project lead Ar'woi'el to conduct experiments.
It is unknown if items produced by this Object also bear anomalous properties. Please allocate a sample deposit box before experimentation.
Additional Measures
AO-02F's internal volume is stocked with three (3) small "fire extinguishers", pressurised nitrogen cartridges with nonstandard lever-action release nozzle attachments. The cartridges should be replaced after every experiment, even if they are not used.
Researchers are advised not to use the extinguishers themselves, as AO-02F is fully capable of self-preservation.
